Subject: Woodturning demo with Kurt Hertzog

On October 16, the Bytown Woodturners  in Ottawa are having a day-long demonstration by Kurt Hertzog.

We would like to invite your club members to take part.

We would appreciate it if you could pass on the following information to your members, possibly via your web site, an e-mail to members, or an announcement at your September  or early October meeting.

Kurt is well known in the woodturning community for his ornaments and pens. He is a professional woodturner and demonstrator, making presentations all over North America on many  different woodturning subjects.   He has been very active in encouraging and promoting woodturning, especially as a Member of the Board of Directors of the American Association of Woodturners

Location: J. Alph Dulude Arena Complex, 941 Clyde  Avenue, Ottawa (south of the Queensway).

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

If you wish to come, please let us know in advance.  The cost is $45 for the day (bring your own lunch).

Kurt will show you how to make Christmas and other  ornaments that  will become family heirlooms, to be handed down from generation  to generation.  They also make great gifts for friends or sales items for craft shows.  He uses wood, sea urchin shells,  even goose eggs to create these ornaments with their beautifully turned finials.  He will also show you how to decorate the ornaments elegantly by coloring, texturing and carving.  The session will also include a segment on effectively photographing your arts and crafts and another segment on tips and tricks to help you save money in your workshop and make your time there more pleasurable.
