AAW

The KWG is the 180th chapter of the American Association of Woodturners (AAW).

The AAW is the largest woodturning organization in the world. It has over 300 chapters world wide.

If you only join the AAW for the six yearly high quality magazines you probably will feel you are getting your monies worth.

They also have a fantastic web site that offers people the oppritunity to get involved in the forums area and find answers to any question a woodturner may have. You will get feed back from an amazing bank of knowledgable people.

There is even a forum for the new turners.

If this isn't enough to intice you then look at the educational grants for both individual woodturners and chapters alike.

Yes Canadian clubs and individuals do qualify and receive these grants.

Our guild has received one in the past to assist in the purchase of our club lathe.

I highly recommend this organization to all our club members.

Why not go take a look at the site and consider joining the AAW.

You can explore the AAW site by going to www.woodturner.org Check it out today and see all it has to offer.

The AAW has now come up with a way for anyone who wishes to join the AAW and receive their subscription via through the web site can do so for a mere $38.00 American.  Same benifits except no hard copy coming to your home.  It is completely down loadable from what I understand, and you have access to every issue the AAW has ever produced, going back around 25 years.

Here is an excerpt from a recent email dated 15 March 2010:  "...the AAW is offering a full membership for $38 in US currency to everyone, worldwide, who would prefer to read the AAW journal and the resource directory online, at the AAW web site, rather than in printed form through the mail. You can now receive the journal instantly, avoiding postal costs and delays. Just think, full membership with all its benefits, and instant delivery of the American Woodturner online, for $38.  Please forward this email to all of your woodturning colleagues in your country so they may take advantage of the new membership category.  Let them know that for a short time they can have a free "look" at our journals (2005, 2006, and 2010) by clicking:

As one member said "Let the trees make bowls, not paper".

Good idea!
