The following is some general information about our meetings.
(For information on becoming a member please see our Membership page)
Meeting Location & Times
The Guild meets on the first Tuesday of each month at the Canadian Canoe Museum located at 910 Monaghan Road, Peterborough. The meetings start at 7:00pm and the entrance is located at the south east corner of the building.
Meeting Format
Meetings generally start with a short formal session followed by a “show and tell” table from members’ work, an in-house competition, a draw table and a demonstration or presentation of some type. We also have an extensive book and video library which members are encouraged to use at no additional charge.
Hands-On Courses
The Guild also offers “hands-on” courses, consisting of three sessions each, where beginners learn the basics of tool handling, control and technique while turning spindles and bowls . These classes are taught by member volunteers.
Special Events
In addition to our regular meetings, the KWG also offers special events where professional turners from around the world are invited to demonstrate their expertise and show their works. These sessions contain a wealth of knowledge and are a great vehicle for sharing ideas and perspectives. They have included turners from Australia, England, New Zealand, the U.S. and Canada.
