Finishing
If you finish your work in the general area of where you turn, ensure at least 24 hours have passed since you have turned. Dust particles will stay air borne for an extended period of time. - Art Deboo
In order to avoid the rim of my salad bowl or sanding finish clogging up I cut an 8 inch ring and used my largest fostner bit to cut a hole in the center. I now put it on the top of the can and use the edge to remove finish from the brush - no more mucked up rims. - John Morand
Transfer your Salad Bowl Finish to an appropriate size pop bottle, and when you are done using it, squeeze the bottle to remove as much air as possible before re-capping the bottle. This keeps it liquid longer. (paraphrased)

Sanding
When power sanding your work slowly increase the speed of your lathe after increasing the grit of your sandpaper.
Ensure you blow off the dust between grits. - Art Deboo
Protect your lungs especially while sanding. Consider all woods to be potentially harmful. - Art Deboo
Equipment
Always use the tail stock for support when possible. Check for tightness every so often. - Art Deboo
Ensure you have removed the chuck key before start up. - Art Deboo
To ensure you are comfortable in front of your lathe while turning. Your spindle centers should equal the height of your elbow while standing directly beside your lathe with your arms at your sides. - Art Deboo
